Description
The Celestial Navigation course provided by the Waukegan Yacht Club is designed to teach you everything you need to know to navigate around the world using observations of the sun, moon, stars and planets, while keeping a dead-reckoning track using nautical charts, navigational tools and sextants.
The class is taught in 4 sessions. Students will learn dead reckoning navigation, how to read and notate navigational charts and tables, use a sextant to measure altitudes of celestial bodies and plot observations, and calculate longitude and latitude. Price includes customized 3-ring binder, worksheets, sample observations and all needed data and instructions.
Students may retake the class for free. Students retaking the class do not receive a three-ring binder or handouts.
The next class starts Sunday, November 14, 2021 and runs consecutive Sundays, 10am-2pm. Classes are held at Waukegan Yacht Club.
